On this , we remember Major Angelanette Moore. Major Moore was a 20+ year veteran with the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail who lost her life in the line of duty on January 23, 2020. Today, as with all days, we continue to honor her memory and sacrifice, and our thoughts, prayers, and support remain with the Moore family, as well as her friends and loved ones.

As we have every year, VPRJ celebrated National Correctional Officers and Employees Week and National Nurses Week May 5 – May 12. Our vendor partners were kind enough once again to provide meals and raffle prizes to our employees and we were joined by dignitaries throughout the week to include Senator Danny Diggs, Delegate Amanda Batten, Sheriff David Hardin, and Former Senator Tommy Norment. All dignitaries personally thanked officers, nurses, and civilian staff of the jail, expressing their appreciation for the work Team VPRJ does day in and day out. Throughout the week, we also recognized employees who had five, ten, and fifteen years of service. VPRJ honored longtime veteran Corporal Angela Dorsey, who retired after 20 years of dedicated and outstanding service to VPRJ, with a plaque that displays an aerial view of the facility, her badge, and details of her tenure. Mr. Kuplinski (of Diamond Pharmacy and former superintendent of VPRJ), JC Rogers (of Viapath Technologies), Mr. Navin Alexander (CEO and Chief Architect of Compustrategies J&PS), and Mr. Trent Wright (of Summit Food Services) fellowshipped with and sponsored meals for all VPRJ guests and staff throughout the week. CGL purchased $50.00 gift cards that our guests assisted with raffling off to employees. We give special thanks to Mr. Emre Umar of (CBH Medical) and Mr. Brian Donahue (of Finsentech) who were not able to attend the event although they sponsored a meal for VPRJ staff. We also want to thank Mr. Gary Ardrey (Camp Peary representative) who presented a plaque to VPRJ on behalf of the Correctional Peace Officers Foundation in honor of the late Major Angelanette Moore, and all members of the James City County/Williamsburg Sheriff’s Office who were in attendance to celebrate with VPRJ staff. We are grateful for the time our guests were able to spend with us and for their support of Team VPRJ!
