The primary mission of the Williamsburg Police Department is to coordinate and lead the efforts within the community to preserve the public peace, protect the rights of persons and property, prevent crime, and generally provide assistance to citizens in urgent situations. The department is responsible for the enforcement of all Kentucky Revised Statutes, and the Williamsburg City Ordinances within the boundaries of the City of Williamsburg. The purpose of the Williamsburg Police Department's page is to present matters of public interest concerning our activities, community programs, public safety, and media content. To report what appears to be a crime in progress or an emergency please call 9-1-1. You may report non-emergency calls for service by calling Whitley Dispatch at (606) 549-6017. WPD reserves the right to take appropriate action concerning off topic comments and vulgarity, and any comment that is intended to create a public safety issue or compromise an on-going, current, or potential law enforcement investigation.

RUNAWAY JUVENILE

The Williamsburg Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Edwin Hardee Turlington, who has been reported as a runaway juvenile.

Turlington was last seen in the Old Corbin Pike area wearing a black and orange flannel shirt, blue jeans, and a gray beanie, and carrying a black backpack.

Anyone who sees Turlington or has information regarding his whereabouts is urged to contact Whitley County Dispatch at (606) 549-6018 or notify their local law enforcement agency.

Please share to help us locate Turlington and ensure his safe return.

PRESS RELEASE

Following a thorough investigation conducted by Williamsburg Police Department Sergeant Chad Foley, five individuals have been charged with drug trafficking and drug possession offenses.

Those charged are:

Troy Cox — Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 2nd Offense, 2 Grams (Methamphetamine); Persistent Felony Offender 2nd Degree.

Leo Shelton — Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense (Fentanyl); Importing Fentanyl; Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree, 1st Offense,

We honor the innocent lives lost, the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice, and the countless men and women who answered the call to help others in the face of unimaginable danger.

Williamsburg Police Department Official Press Release

On August 31, 2026, Samuel Hatfield, of Corbin, was sentenced to 10 years in prison following prosecution in Whitley Circuit Court.

Hatfield was the subject of an investigation conducted by Williamsburg Police Department Sergeant Chad Foley involving the trafficking of methamphetamine. As a result of the investigation, Hatfield was charged with two counts of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense, involving two or more grams of methamphetamine; Promoting Contraband, 1st Degree; Fleeing or Evading Police, 3rd Degree; and Persistent Felony Offender, 1st Degree.

Sergeant Foley was assisted throughout the investigation by Officer Bryson Lawson, Officer Eddie Cain, Officer Colby Cornett, Officer Sabrina Lewis, and Assistant Chief Brandon White.

‼️ A huge thank you to our local Williamsburg Walmart for their incredibly generous donation of two new televisions to the Williamsburg City Police Department ‼️

Walmart team members Penny Smith, Cody Adkins, and Tyler Douglas personally delivered the TVs to the department. These displays will be put to great use enhancing safety and security at Williamsburg City School and the police substation located at the University of the Cumberlands.

We truly value our partnership with Walmart. Having such a close, supportive working relationship with our local businesses helps us keep our community safe and strong. Thank you for always stepping up for Williamsburg ‼️
