Whitley County EMS would like to extend our condolences to our brothers and sisters at Kentucky State Police, Glasgow Police Department, and Russell County EMS. We are heartbroken by the news of the Line of Duty Death of Trooper Hayden Phillips.

Hayden's career was dedicated to serving others, and throughout his career he proudly wore the uniforms of Russell County EMS, Glasgow Police Department, and Kentucky State Police.

Those who had the privilege of working alongside Hayden will remember his dedication to his community, his commitment to helping others, and the impact he made through his service.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family, friends, fellow EMS providers, officers, troopers, and everyone who had the honor of knowing and working beside him. Please keep them all in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest easy, Trooper Phillips. Your service, sacrifice, and memory will never be forgotten.

πŸš‘ WHAT IS A SPECIAL RESPONSE VEHICLE? πŸš‘

You may have seen one of our Whitley County EMS Special Response Vehicles (SRVs) out in the community and wondered, β€œWhat exactly is that?”

Our SRVs are an important part of our emergency response system. They are staffed by Advanced Life Support (ALS) providers and are designed to get highly trained providers to patients quickly when additional resources are needed.

An SRV may respond for a variety of reasons, some including:

🚨 An ambulance crew needs an extra set of hands
🚨 A patient may require a higher level of care
🚨 Additional ALS skills or equipment are needed on scene
🚨 Getting an ALS provider to the patient quickly can make a difference

⏱️ One of the biggest advantages of an SRV is speed. Because these vehicles are designed for response rather than patient transport, an ALS provider can sometimes reach the patient sooner while an ambulance is also responding.

πŸš¨πŸ’ Important to know: Our Special Response Vehicles are NOT equipped to transport patients. If a patient needs transportation to the hospital, an ambulance will still be responsible for transporting them.

πŸ› οΈ Think of our SRVs as another tool in our toolbox β€” helping us bring the right resources, the right level of care, and additional support to our crews and patients when they need it most.

We’re proud to continue finding ways to improve response and provide the best possible care to the people of Whitley County. β€οΈπŸ’™πŸ€

Have you seen one of our SRVs in action? Let us know in the comments! πŸ‘‡

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Director, Amanda Jackson.

Cancer is a relentless thief, but true to who she was, Amanda fought with every ounce of her being until the very end. Her fierce strength, unwavering resilience, and graceful leadership have left an indelible mark on all of us.

To us, she wasn't just a leader; she was family. She cared deeply for each of her employees and was dedicated to the community we serve. She touched so many lives over the years of being in EMS. Amanda was a special soul. This loss has rocked us to our core.

Please join us in keeping her husband, Chad, their children, and their entire family and circle of friends in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace, Amanda. You are deeply missed. 🀍
