Celebrating an Outstanding Yellow Jacket!

Williamsburg Independent School is proud to recognize Miss Abigail Jackson for her outstanding achievements and leadership.

Last year, Abby was selected to represent Williamsburg Independent School as our Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival Princess Candidate. The Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival, held annually in Pineville, is one of Kentucky's oldest and most prestigious traditions. Since 1931, it has celebrated the Commonwealth's Appalachian heritage while bringing together representatives from colleges, universities, and select high schools across the state. Representing Williamsburg Independent School was a tremendous honor, and Abby did so with grace and pride.

Abby has also earned national recognition for her writing. Last year, her teacher, Mrs. Becky Hamilton, submitted one of Abby's original poems to the American Library of Poetry's 2026 Student Poetry Contest. Over the summer, Abby was named a National Finalist, and her poem will be published, officially making her a published author!

In addition to these accomplishments, Abby serves as the President of Williamsburg High School's Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG) Career Association, where she continues to lead by example.

Congratulations, Abby! We are incredibly proud of you and all that you've accomplished. Your Yellow Jacket family can't wait to see what the future holds!

Congratulations to our FFA friends!

Congratulations to our FFA friends!

More results are in from the Kentucky FFA State Agriscience Fair, and we are excited to share that Williamsburg FFA members Emily Cooper and Zaden Housekeeper earned 2nd Place in Division 6 Animal Systems at the state level!

Their project focused on poultry health and development, where they raised chickens and conducted research on egg production and egg weights in relation to overall bird health. Through their study, Emily and Zaden developed a poultry evaluation system similar to the APGAR scale used for newborn babies, creating a method to assess and monitor the health status of chickens based on measurable indicators.

This project combined animal science, data collection, and hands-on agricultural research while demonstrating the scientific process from start to finish. Their work showcases the innovation, dedication, and problem-solving skills that are at the heart of agricultural education.

We are incredibly proud of Emily and Zaden for representing Williamsburg FFA on the state stage and bringing home a 2nd Place finish in a highly competitive division. Congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment!

For another year, JAG Kentucky achieved all six national performance standards, reflecting the success of our students, specialists, employer partners, educators, and communities across the Commonwealth.

This achievement represents more than numbersβ€”it represents students graduating, continuing their education, entering the workforce, and building successful futures.
