Today, members of the East Williamson Fire Department attended the First Responders Event at Peake with Sodus Fire Rescue, Wallington Engine co., and Mercy Flight Central.

Thank you to Peake for hosting the event and recognizing the first responders who serve our local communities. We were glad to take part alongside our neighboring departments! 🚒

The East Williamson Fire Department had another great year participating in the annual Firemen’s Softball Championship!

This year, our team:

🏆 Took 4th place

🤝 Represented EWFD with great sportsmanship

🏅 Celebrated Ivan Sonneville, who received the Frank Clark Memorial Award

🎂 And helped celebrate Louie’s 74th birthday!

We’re proud to continue a tradition of competition, camaraderie, and representing The East Williamson Fire Department. Congratulations to everyone who took part in another great year!

On July 25, 2026, the East Williamson Fire Department was dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash on State Route 104. The Williamson and Pultneyville Fire Departments were dispatched automatic mutual aid. State Route 104 was closed between Townline Road and Pound Road while emergency crews worked the scene.

Fortunately, everyone involved in the crash walked away, and no patients required transport to the hospital.

During the incident, an East Williamson firefighter assigned to traffic control at the intersection of State Route 104 and Townline Road was struck by a vehicle. The firefighter was transported to the hospital by Wayne County EMS with non-life-threatening injuries. The operator of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with law enforcement. Sodus Fire was requested to the scene to help with traffic control.

We are pleased to report that the firefighter has since been released from the hospital and is home resting and recovering.

This incident is a reminder to all motorists to slow down, stay alert, and pay attention when approaching emergency scenes. Our firefighters are volunteers who leave their families and jobs to serve this community. Please do your part by driving carefully and giving emergency responders the space they need to keep everyone safe.

🚤 Wear a life jacket and keep an eye on changing weather if you’re on the water.

🚗 Never drink and drive always plan for a safe ride home.
