Happy New Year from your Mingo County Assessor’s office!

Reminder: Offices in the Mingo County Courthouse and Mingo Memorial Annex Building will follow the state schedule for the New Year holiday. Offices will close at noon on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025 and be closed both Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026 and Friday, Jan. 2, 2026. Offices in both buildings will reopen on the regular schedule at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026.

We are grateful that our WV State Treasurer, Larry Pack, chose to visit Mingo County today. We took an atv ride on the Hatfield McCoy Trails, from Gilbert to Matewan. Our beautiful county deserves to be seen.

***IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE WV MOTOR VEHICLE PROPERTY TAX CREDIT***
The 2024 tax return is the first year WV taxpayers will be eligible to claim the WV Motor Vehicle Property Tax Credit. We are now being informed that the state tax department will be mailing all individuals who are eligible a form with their specific credit information.
You WILL NOT be able to claim the credit without this form.
Forms will be mailed by 1/27/25, if not sooner. If you have NOT received your form by 2/15/25 you will need to contact the state tax department or you should be able to download it from your WV Mytaxes account.
This is a very beneficial credit so taxpayers really need to wait to file their returns until this form is received.
The form is called MV-1.

Due to the inclement weather and the interest of public safety, the Mingo County Courthouse and Mingo Memorial Annex Building will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025.

As per Chief Judge Joshua Butcher, “All courts of the 11th Circuit will be closed Tuesday, January 7th.
