Attention Tax Payers:
We realize that taxes are confusing, and honestly nobody enjoys paying them. BUT, please ask questions. If you feel like you do not receive an adequate explanation, always ask to speak to a supervisor or the elected official.
It is very important that you fill out an assessment form every year to report what vehicles and/or any other personal property that you own. The county’s system is not linked to the DMV so if you trade, sale, or purchase anything new, the county has no way of knowing that. You must report it yourself.
Also, taxes are always based on a year behind. The current 2026 taxes are based on what you owned as of July 1, 2025. Again, it is very important that you report yearly to the assessor’s office between July 1st and October 1st.
The
Tax Department only collects the bill that is processed for you.
