Good evening:
Did you know that your City of Williamson Public Library has over 18,000 books and hundreds of audio and DVD resources available for the local avid reader or the inquisitive tourist/researcher?
Did you also know that the City Library has six (6) public computers with wi-fi printing capability and offers faxing, copying and notary public services?
Did you know that this Library serves as a government agency for issuing passports for international travel? If you didn't know these services were available here, then maybe you need to stop by and visit your local library and learn for yourself what is happening!
Intergovernmental teamwork is required to maintain a library service. Your City of Williamson Public Library is funded in part from the West Virginia Library Commission and the Mingo County Board of Education. The Mingo County Commission provides space and utilities at no charge, and the City of Williamson provides funding for the salaries. A true model of working together among the different levels of government.
Currently, the other libraries in Mingo County are facing huge budget cuts as a result of the County's population decrease, because as the population decreases so does the funding. Fortunately, the City of Williamson's population in the recent census did not show a decrease enough to activate any budget cuts.
We need to support all our libraries and find creative ways to keep them strong and serving our communities. Visit the City of Williamson Public Library located at 101 Logan Street, the Courthouse Annex - Memorial Building, Williamson, WV 25661 Ph: 304-235-6092. https://williamsonlibrary.lib.wv.us or Facebook
