For the past couple weeks, memebers have been working on a request from Ms. Patty, a resident in McEwensville, PA, for a "Tree of Life" representation sculpture. Ms. Patty bought a church and transformed it onto an open-layout home. Along with the church came a beautiful picture of Jesus, wanting to preserve the painting she took extreme measures painting over it and wanted a sculpture representation of where certain lights hit this area. The members have put their AutoCad, CNC, plasma cutting, welding and fabrication skills to use in the process of designing the sculpture to be able to fit in the already existing wooden frame. The project was made out of a 16 gauge sheet and tube frame. The trunk was CNC cut out, the top was plasma cut free handedly, and students in Steve Kopera's class welded it all together. The sculpture was attached to the frame by drilling holes through the tube frame on either side. The club was honored being presented with this opportunity to not only use our skills outside of the classroom on this donated project, but to give back to the community. It was fantastic to see Ms. Patty's reaction loving the sculpture as we brought it through the door. Ms. Patty also had the local newspaper, Standard Journal, there capturing the installation of the tree sculpture, which had the issue running on March 4th 2019.
