The Learning Center Learning Center Classroom Hours:
Monday: 9am - 1pm
Tuesday: 9am - 12:00
Wed. & Thurs.: 9am to 2pm
James V. Brown Library, 3rd floor Welch Wing Brown Library.

The Learning Center is a space, a comfortable place to meet and learn at 19 East Fourth Street in downtown Williamsport, third floor of the Welch Childrens Wing at the James V. A second site is located in the Community Room of Jersey Shore Library. A staff of helpful friendly trained coaches and instructors is available to help. There exists a spirit here, a corps of volunteers committed to helping the learner become more confident about their abilities to meet their goals.

Volunteers are the heart of our work at The Learning Center. In Lycoming County, volunteer adult education and literacy tutors work with adult learners every year providing support and learning opportunities. The first step to becoming an Adult Education/Literacy Tutor is to attend one of the FREE volunteer tutor development workshops offered by The Learning Center. The trainings are open to everyone – you don’t need a degree in education. All you need is a degree in caring. After completing the tutor development workshop, you are connected with an adult learner who wants to improve reading, writing or math skills. The next Tutor Development Workshop will be held on November 1 from 10:00 to 2:00. A light lunch will be provided. The Learning Center classes will be closed from Monday, July 2 through Friday, July 6. Classes will resume on July 9. This will not effect those tutor and students who meet at the Volunteer Center. That area will remain open.
