Thank you to River Valley Transit for visiting our Life Skills program alongside our Hope Squad students to teach the importance of utilizing the city bus system and building independence within the community! Students had the opportunity to explore the new bus and learn how to navigate the updated system firsthand.

Special thanks to Mr. Brett and Ms. Tye for this opportunity! Opportunities like this help our students build confidence, independence, and real-world life skills while strengthening community connections. We appreciate your partnership and support!

BUILDERS CLUB YEAR END SHARE
On Wednesday morning, the WAMS Builders Club celebrated in great fashion. The club presented the “Volunteer of the Year” award to 8th grader, Danika Krebs, who also served as the club President. President Krebs volunteered a total of 33 hours during this school year. The club, volunteered a staggering 183.5 hours in our community – congratulations to Danika and all club members. During the school year, the Builders Club hosted some lunch-time Bingo games and used the earnings from the monthly games to donate the money back into our community. Jennifer Lake, Founder and Executive Director of Dwell Orphan Care (https://www.dwellorphancare.org/), was given a $400 check donation from the Builders Club. Mrs. Lake will use the donations for their, “Happy Birthday-Made to Celebrate Program”, which is a Dwell program bringing smiles to children in foster and kinship care in which children receive gifts on their birthdays. So happy and excited to help this worthy organization. The Builders Club also celebrated with snacks and refreshments for our club and guests. We also want to thank Mr. Jack Houston, President of the Kiwanis Club of Williamsport, for being a valued member of our club all school year and for the sponsorship of our WAMS Builders Club. Our club goal is to Build and develop leaders in our school and in our community. We are already planning great things for next school year.

Williamsport Area Middle School’s Builders Club continued a meaningful annual tradition this week by replacing our flags. Sponsored by Kiwanis International, Builders Club encourages middle school students to develop leadership skills while giving back to their community through service projects and acts of citizenship.

The tradition serves as a visible reminder of the importance of patriotism, remembrance, and community pride.

The Williamsport Area Middle School community is grateful to the members of Builders Club for continuing this thoughtful tradition and helping honor the true meaning of Memorial Day.
