It is with great sadness we announce the passing of long time member Denver Harrison.

Denver served his community for years as a member of BGFR. Through his service and influence many followed in his footsteps to include his wife Linda, son Justin, and grandsons Jacob and Reid all currently serving as active members

Visitation will be Tuesday night, 6-8pm at Rose of Sharon Church.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 3 pm, at Rose of Sharon with internment at the family cemetery located on Cratt Rd.

Please keep the Harrison family in your prayers.

8/22/26 @ 735AM – Good morning ENC. Have ongoing showers and a few isolated thunderstorms this morning, especially along the OBX. Do expect shower and thunderstorm chances to increase in coverage later this morning and afternoon, with areas east of Hwy 17 having the best chance to see showers and thunderstorms today.

The work never stops. The calls keep coming. So we continue to train and be ready when the tones drop.

Last night members participated in our monthly training hosted at the Martin Community College Fire training tower. Chief Michael Pierce of the Jamesville Community Volunteer Fire Department came to discuss and teach strategies / tactics on ventilation. This was an excellent training and use of the training tower. Members were able to practice scenarios such as deploying ladders, making ventilation cuts in roofs, and familiarizing themselves with our equipment.

We are thankful to have this excellent training facility in our county as well as the opportunity to work with and learn from our neighboring departments.

Training today to better serve you tomorrow.

2:45 PM Afternoon Radar Update: a few storms over the Highway 17 corridor this afternoon will push eastward with a stronger line back across central NC. This line will move east as well throughout this afternoon and evening. The most likely threats if storms become severe would be damaging winds and heavy rainfall. Less coverage to the south along the Crystal Coast beaches.

Last night BGFR responded to a mutual aid request from Williamston Fire / Rescue / EMS for assistance at a large commercial structure fire. Several members from BGFR responded along with our rehab unit. All members returned home safely and units returned to service.

Our dedication to serve does not stop at the district lines. We are committed to assist our neighboring brothers and sisters when the need arises. We are grateful for these partnerships and know they will be there to support us in our time of need.
