Good morning ENC! Some thunderstorms in the forecast today capable of heavy rainfall rates and gusty winds. It won't be a washout for most so you may be able to sneak some outdoor activities in through the day. Be weather aware and enjoy the day ENC!

8/27/26 @ 845 PM – Continued chances for showers and thunderstorms tonight with a stalled front lingering around ENC. Additional chances for more widespread precipitation are forecast for Friday. Low temps get into the 70s tonight.

Latest NHC outlook continues to show good chances for development. No surprise as we approach the peak of Hurricane Season. It is far too early to say whether these will impact the U.S, but it is a good reminder as any it is never too early to make or review your hurricane plans!

Tropical Weather Outlook
August 24 2026

Central Subtropical Atlantic (AL95):
A broad area of low pressure centered a few hundred miles east-southeast of Bermuda continues to show signs of organization. Additional development of the low is possible, and this system could become a short-lived tropical depression or storm during the next couple of days while it moves northward and north-northeastward, well northeast of Bermuda. It has a medium (50 percent) chance of formation in 48 hours and in the next 7 days.

Eastern Tropical Atlantic:
A tropical wave and associated area of low pressure has moved offshore of west Africa with disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions are forecast to be marginally conducive for development, and a tropical depression could form by the middle to latter portions of the week while the system moves generally westward at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical
Atlantic. It has a low (20 percent) chance of formation in 48 hours and a medium (60 percent) chance in the next 7 days.

There is the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms developing today. Timing for strongest storms will be in the afternoon, ending early in the evening, with damaging wind gusts being the primary concern. Make sure you are staying weather aware today and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
