This is going to be the biggest road project in our township this year. The detour route will be Meridian Rd, Haslett Rd and Zimmer Rd. The township has no authority or role in the scheduling, detour route selection or duration of the project. Information concerning the project will available from several sources including here on my page.

⚠ UPCOMING BRIDGE REPLACEMENT TO IMPACT TRAVEL ⚠

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will start work on a project to replace the Grand River Avenue/M-43 bridge east of the North Meridian Road intersection on February 3, 2025.

This project will involve a complete bridge replacement. Demolition of the existing bridge will begin in February 2025. While the existing bridge is demolished and the new bridge is constructed, Grand River Avenue will be fully closed eastbound and westbound. Once the details have been finalized, the closure date and detours will be announced.

Future phases of the project will involve work at the North Meridian Road/Grand River Avenue intersection and the South Meridian Road/Grand River Avenue intersection.

The project is estimated to be completed between December 2025 and February 2026.

The new bridge will include protected bike lanes and seven-foot-wide sidewalks as part of this project.

Everyone most likely knows that our new Congessman Tom Barrett takes office in January 2025.
For any of you that are wondering, I’m sworn in two months earlier on November 20th.
Clerk Robin Cleveland, Treasurer Kim VanErp and all of the Trustees are sworn in the same day. Congratulations to all of them on their successful campaigns this fall!
