The Williamston Police Department remains committed to keeping v**es, and particularly THC-laced v**es, out of the hands of our young people.

We want to recognize one of our patrol officers for outstanding proactive police work during a recent traffic stop. The officer removed THC-laced va**ng products from some local juveniles, and one juvenile was also found to be armed during the stop.

It may not be the “motherload,” but every THC-laced v**e removed from our young people is a win for the safety and well-being of our community’s youth. Every proactive encounter is an opportunity to prevent these products from reaching another young person and potentially leading to more serious consequences.

Great job by our officer for staying alert, taking action, and helping keep our community safer. This is what proactive policing looks like.

As always, when you see something, say something.

The WPD extends our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the Columbia Police Department and to the family, friends, and fellow officers of Officer Christopher DeLong, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.

Officer DeLong dedicated himself to serving and protecting the Columbia community, and his loss is felt far beyond the Columbia Police Department. His sacrifice is a heartbreaking reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness displayed by law enforcement officers every day as they answer the call to protect others.

During this difficult time, we ask our community to join us in praying for strength, comfort, and peace for Officer DeLong’s family and for everyone who knew, loved, and served alongside him.

May Officer Christopher DeLong’s service and sacrifice never be forgotten.

Williamston Police Officers will be speaking with local businesses regarding the removal of these products from sale. Businesses are encouraged to review their inventory and remove any affected products.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping protect the safety and well-being of our community.
