🚧 Update on Hyde Road Railroad Crossing Closure 🚧

Judge/Executive Chuck Dills has gotten ahold of our representative with Norfolk Southern and here are a few things we have learned:

1) Norfolk will be laying rail and paving during this closure.
2) The closure will not be for two full days. It will be short closures throughout the two days- the time of work is currently unknown.
3) Norfolk has been made aware that Hyde Road is a single entrance/exit road, and they are preparing a plan for emergencies (should there be any).
4) Norfolk is preparing a press release with more details regarding this closure.

We understand the frustration this may have caused. Please know that this is a Norfolk Southern closing, and not a county closing. Once we receive more information from Norfolk, we will make a post.

Tornado Watch in Effect – Grant County, Kentucky

A Tornado Watch has been issued for parts of Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and Ohio as a strong storm system moves across the Midwest today. This means conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms.

What a Tornado Watch Means

Tornado Watch = Tornadoes are possible.
• Severe thunderstorms may develop that could produce tornadoes.
• Large hail and damaging winds are also possible.
• Stay alert and monitor weather updates.

What You Should Do Now

✔️ Review your severe weather safety plan.
✔️ Identify a safe shelter location (basement or interior room on the lowest floor).

⛺🌩️ Severe Weather Week: Recreational Safety Reminder

As the weather warms up, many Grant County residents will be heading outdoors to enjoy camping, hiking, boating, and other recreational activities. During Severe Weather Awareness Week, Grant County Emergency Management encourages everyone to plan ahead and stay weather aware while enjoying the outdoors.

📱 Check the Forecast Before You Go
Always review the weather forecast before heading outside and monitor updates throughout the day. Conditions can change quickly.

⚡ Have a Way to Receive Weather Alerts
Cell phones, weather apps, and NOAA Weather Radios can help you receive important warnings even when you’re away from home.

🏕️ Know Where to Seek Shelter
If thunderstorms or severe weather approach, move to a sturdy building or hard-topped vehicle. Tents, pavilions, and open shelters do not provide adequate protection from lightning or strong winds.

🚣 If You’re on the Water
Head to shore immediately if storms develop. Lightning and strong winds can create extremely dangerous conditions on lakes and rivers.

🗺️ Plan an Emergency Route
Know how to quickly reach safe shelter if weather conditions change while you’re outdoors.

Enjoy the outdoors safely by staying prepared and weather aware.

Grant County Emergency Management reminds everyone:
🌩️ When thunder roars, go indoors
