Monroe Township Police Department – July 4th Fireworks Safety Reminder

As you celebrate Independence Day and America's 250th Birthday, we encourage everyone to plan ahead, follow the posted traffic and parking restrictions, and be patient as you arrive and depart from the fireworks display. Our officers will be on hand to help keep everyone safe and traffic moving as efficiently as possible.

Please review the attached safety information before heading out, and help us make this a fun, safe, and memorable celebration for everyone.

New Brooklyn Park Cleanup

Join Mike Hogan of South Jersey Land & Water Trust and Jacob DeRose of the New Jersey Watershed Ambassadors Program to help clean up New Brooklyn Park! By removing litter off the ground, we are preventing pollution from affecting the forested area and also contaminating the Great Egg Harbor River. Supplies will be provided, but please bring gloves if you have them. Please also dress for the weather and in clothes that may get dirty!

Intentionally releasing balloons outdoors is banned statewide in Louisiana as of August 1st under legislation aimed at protecting wildlife, reducing litter, and preventing power outages.

🚨 Following the Monday holiday closings listed above, trash & recycling collection will be delayed by ONE DAY for the remainder of the week.

Municipalities have significant authority over the development and protection of their communities. Zoning and site development ordinances as well as environmental ordinances can provide a strong backbone to enhance and protect a municipality’s environment and resiliency. While the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has baseline regulations to protect the environment and communities, in many cases these regulations are not enough and do not account for the requirements of a particular municipality.

The panelists will discuss the environmental issues currently facing municipalities and how carefully drafted and enacted ordinances can strengthen a municipality’s ability to protect the environment and safeguard its communities.

This event will be 100% virtual. Recordings will be shared with attendees after the event.
