Grant County KY 4-H

Grant County KY 4-H The Grant County 4-H program offers a variety of clubs and programs to the children of Grant County ages 5-18

4-H’ers across the nation are responding to challenges every day in their communities and their world. With an expansive network reaching every corner of the country, 4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization. More than 6 million 4-H youth in urban neighborhoods, suburban schoolyards and rural farming communities stand out among their peers: building revolutionary opportunities an

d implementing community-wide change at an early age. As the youth development program of the nation’s 109 land-grant universities and the Cooperative Extension System, 4-H fosters an innovative, “learn by doing” approach with proven results. The 4-H Study of Positive Youth Development, a longitudinal study conducted by the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University, shows youth engaged with 4-H are:
•Nearly two times more likely to get better grades in school;
•Nearly two times more likely to plan to go to college;
•41 percent less likely to engage in risky behaviors; and
•25 percent more likely to positively contribute to their families and communities. The 4-Hs
Head, Heart, Hands, and Health are the four Hs in 4-H, and they are the four values members work on through fun and engaging programs.
•Head - Managing, Thinking
•Heart - Relating, Caring
•Hands - Giving, Working
•Health - Being, Living

A New 4-H Program Year is Here!

A new year of 4-H is getting underway, and we’re excited for everything ahead!

4-H gives young people the chance to try new things, build skills, meet new people, take on leadership roles, and get involved in their community. With clubs, projects, camps, competitions, community service, leadership opportunities, and more, there are plenty of ways to get involved.

As we begin the new program year, we’re also proud to be Beyond Ready. Through hands-on experiences and positive relationships with caring adults, 4-H helps youth build the skills and confidence they can use at school, at home, in their communities, and later in life.

Whether you’ve been involved in 4-H for years or are thinking about joining for the first time, now is a great time to get involved.

Join us for another great year of 4-H!

Attached are images of the 4-H Online Enrollment process, all 4-H enrollment will be conducted through 4-H Online. Please contact Mason Malin, at [email protected] for any questions, or trouble with enrollment.

Grant County 4-Hers had a great showing at the Kentucky 4-H Country Ham Contest during the Kentucky State Fair.

For the project, they salt cure a ham from start to finish, and also have to give a speech on a provided topic. At the State Fair, they have to give their speech to judges and their hams are also judged.

We want to congratulate the following Grant County 4-Hers for their success at the State Fair:

Everly McClanahan: 1st place Speech Winner, 2016 Age Group

Olivia Butler: 3rd Place Speech 2012 Age Group

Ben Butler: 1st Place Speech 2014 Age Group, and 3rd Place Overall in the Non-Smoked Ham Division.

For anyone interested in doing this project, please be on the lookout for 4-H Enrollment in September and project details to come out around November.

What a week we had during the 2026 Grant County Fair. From exhibit hall entries, to livestock shows all week long. Our Grant County 4-Hers had an amazing week. The weather was perfect, our exhibitors had some amazing success, and it all came together with the help of some great people who help make our 4-H and FFA programs what they are.

If you are interested in your youth participating in these programs, the new 4-H Program Year begins September 1st! Keep an eye out for our enrollment information coming out very soon!
