On Thursday June 11th, Mayor Greg Wolfe and Council President Denise Adams attended and welcomed residents to a new, unique and fantastic program in Monroe Township, the Market to Affordable Housing Program. This program is the first of its kind in Monroe Township and maybe in all of Southern NJ.

The program is funded through Monroe Townships Affordable Housing Trust Account. The program allows low to moderate income applicants to be provided with a subsidy to purchase a market rate unit at an affordable price.

The residents in attendance were ecstatic to hear and learn more about the program. Many residents indicated they would be applying and hoping to take advantage of this great program.

Last night, Mayor Greg Wolfe, Councilman Brian Cope, and Councilman Al Rossi were in attendance at the Senior Learn with Dinner event.

The event provided Monroe Township seniors with valuable information on understanding addiction, proper storage and disposal of prescription medication, and Narcan training.

Community affairs provided a complimentary meal for all attendees.

The educational class was a collaborative effort between the Mayor’s Committee on Addiction Awareness and the New Jersey State Police.

On June 5th, Hexa Builders, LLC filed a Complaint in Lieu of Prerogative Writ against the Mayor and Township Council of the Township of Monroe and the Monroe Township Planning Board in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Gloucester County. Earlier this year, Hexa was denied Township approval for the development of a data center on 3043 Black Horse Pike. The lawsuit alleges Hexa was wrongfully denied approvals to build and that the recently adopted ordinance banning data centers as a permitted use is arbitrary and capricious in violation of the United States Constitution, among other legal claims.
The lawsuit does not come as a surprise to the Mayor or Township Council. At each public meeting where this proposed project was discussed, the governing body stated that the data center ban would lead to litigation against the Township. Accordingly, the Township has been preparing to fight the lawsuit and will now zealously assert legal defenses in court.
Mayor and Township Council will continue to be as transparent as possible as this matter moves forward. However, since this matter is now in litigation, the governing body and its representatives will be restrained from discussing the specific details of the litigation in order to protect the interests of the Township.
