Margaret “Peg” Eisenhauer has been an inspiring mentor and trailblazer in the male-dominated real estate industry for 15 years. I am honored to name her a 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Peg purchased a RE/MAX real estate franchise nearly two decades ago becoming one of only a few female owners in Western New York at the time. Peg has worked to train and inspire several female real estate brokers while successfully growing her business to a company of over 35 agents. She has also navigated the hardships that the real estate industry has faced as a result of COVID-19. She has also been a guiding light and a pillar of strength for her family as they battled cancer.
Peg’s steadfast determination in the face of adversity is inspiring. I was honored to present her with a NYS Assembly Proclamation naming her a 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Dr. Christine Farrow has been an influential and guiding force in a variety of different avenues and has changed many lives around her for the better. I am so pleased to recognize her as a 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Dr. Farrow is a former Little Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program. She has since given back to the organization by becoming a Big Sister, mentoring young girls. She is now the first African American President-Elect of the agency’s Board of Directors.
In addition to her honorable volunteer work, Dr. Farrow is also the Deputy/Acting Commissioner of Jurors for Erie County, overseeing jury operations for all courts within the county. Dr. Farrow is also an adjunct professor at the University at Buffalo, teaching counseling courses, as well as assisting with the accreditation of various counseling programs.
Dr. Farrow’s admirable work in the fields of both volunteerism and professionalism deserve to be saluted. I thank her for her positive impact on the lives of young people, and her legal service. I was honored to present her with a NYS Assembly Proclamation naming her a 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Kathy Mobarak Miller has served her community with boundless love and dedication. I am honored to name her as a 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Kathy has been working with young people in WNY for over 30 years. She has guided several young men and women to internships and helped them become professional and effective presenters that can have their own positive influence on the community. For decades, Kathy has worked with the Special Olympics, volunteered at New Beginnings Food Pantry, served as a eucharistic minister and Children’s Liturgy coordinator for her parish, and has been involved in PTA organizations.
Kathy is also a breast cancer survivor. Her courage in the face of adversity is an inspiration to her family and friends. Her commitment to helping others, even while fighting her own battle is extraordinary. I was honored to present Kathy with a NYS Assembly Proclamation naming her a 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Today I presented Ruth Lipsitz with a Legislative Resolution declaring the month of April as Esophageal Cancer Awareness Month.
Sadly, Ruth lost her husband to this awful disease, and each year I am proud to draft this resolution to spread awareness and push for a cure.
Purnima Mohan is a wonderfully selfless individual who betters our community through her dedicated volunteerism. I am honored to recognize her as another 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Purnima is extremely involved in her community having been active in the Williamsville School District, Buffalo City Mission, Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, CHAI, Food for Education, Friends of the Night People, Hindu Cultural Society of WNY, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Spritiual education, and Vibha Vibe.
I was so happy to present Purnima with a New York State Assembly Proclamation honoring her activism with children, the homeless, the food insecure, the Hindu faith, and more.
Dr. Maureen Sullivan is an outstanding leader, serving as the Chief of Dentistry at ECMC in the divisions of oral oncology and maxillofacial prosthetics. I am honored to recognize her as a 2020 Woman of Distinction.
Dr. Sullivan is a clinical professor at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, a clinical assistant professor of Otolaryngology, and has been involved in research of cancers of the oral cavity and head and neck. She has worked to mentor young dental residents and has presented research both nationally and internationally. Her extensive knowledge, skill, and eagerness to prepare future doctors is admirable.
I was honored to recognize her significant contributions to her profession and the community by presenting her with a Proclamation from the New York State Assembly.
I am so pleased to congratulate Theodore Poulin of Mill Middle School in Williamsville, on his documentary film, “Our World in Our Hands,” which won third place honors in the C-SPAN StudentCam competition.
Theo asked the important question, “Why haven’t we seen more federal legislation to combat climate change?”

While many of us are safe, social distancing at home, essential workers are putting their health on the line each day to provide us the best service and care possible. Let's continue to do our part. The actions we take today, impact the outcomes of tomorrow.

Protecting our Environment
When I ran for the NYS Assembly, I did so with a commitment to protecting the environment for future generations. This year, we passed the strongest climate protection legislation in the nation. While this is a great start, I’ll continue to advocate for our environment and our future.
America the Beautiful
I was honored to attend a Memorial Day observance at the Amherst Veterans Memorial. The students of Mill Middle School did an outstanding job presenting the program. I've included a video - an inspiring rendition of America the Beautiful, my favorite patriotic song.

Assemblymember McMahon on the passage of the Reproductive Health Act
With passage of the Reproductive Health Act, we took a major step forward to protect the rights of the women of New York. I firmly believe that women’s rights are human rights and I’ll continue to fight until we have full equality for all women. Learn more here: https://nyassembly.gov/mem/?ad=146&sh=story&story=84544
Regardless of what happens in the final days, I will continue to run this race by my own playbook. I hope I can earn your vote next Tuesday. #RunWithKaren #VoteNextTuesday
Why is it that the only thing that seems truly bipartisan is government corruption? We need to work together to get money out of politics and elect representatives who will deliver for the people of Western New York. #RunWithKaren #McMahonForAssembly
Zero Tolerance
Albany is broken and our state representatives always talk tough about tackling corruption, but nothing ever actually changes. I’ll stand up to self-serving career politicians and pass real ethics reform to ensure that our voices are heard loud and clear. #RunWithKaren #McMahonForAssembly

I'm running for New York State Assembly because what we're getting from Albany is not cutting it. We deserve better. #RunWithKaren
