The old saying "Time flies when you're having fun" couldn't be more true today. Nine years have come and gone since I took the oath to serve and protect this amazing community. I started my law enforcement career in 2010, not long after I returned from basic training and military police school for the Army. I worked for a small department part-time and continued to work my full-time job at a local hospital. One day I was told a town just north of Springfield was accepting applications for a full-time officer. I submitted my application and have been working in the Williamsville community since 2012.
With that being said, I have decided to open a new chapter in this big book of life. Tomorrow, August 25th, I will be resigning from my position as one of your police officers. I can wholeheartedly say the Williamsville community has been absolutely amazing to work for. I also can not express enough gratitude to the police department for helping me become the officer I am today. I was given the opportunity to receive great training, which helped me serve my community better, and it has been an honor to do so. I would also like to personally thank Chief Edwards for his excellent leadership, advice-giving skills, and being a mentor and friend.
While I may be leaving the department, I am not leaving the community. Williamsville has and always will be a fantastic community, and I am proud to call it my home.
As always, stay safe
Officer Harmon

In an effort to reunite lost pets with their humans, the WPD has created a pet information form for owners. Using the same service we use for our non-highway vehicle registrations, pet owners can quickly and easily provide us information and a photo of their furry family members. We can then use this information if we happen to find the escape artist visiting the neighbors on the other side of town. Use the link below to get started!

With beautiful weather upon us we are happy to see residents out and about on their golf carts and other permitted slow moving vehicles. We would like to take a moment to remind residents to be watchful of these slower and smaller vehicles. Please share the road with them. We would also like to remind the permit holders to also watch for larger vehicles. Share the road with them as well. Additionally, we remind permit holders that they too must follow all traffic laws.
Please do not drive on sidewalks, hold children on your lap, or use unauthorized roads. We appreciate your help with keeping everyone safe on our roads!
As many of you know, the Village has used Nixle notifications for many years. These notifications were used to alert the community of situations ranging from boil orders to criminal activities. Recently the Village has worked with Sangamon County and integrated a new alert system. This new system called Sangamon Alert Messaging System, or SAMS for short, will continue to provide the same notices as well as a few new features to help the Village and the Police Department keep the community informed. Please take a moment to register, choose the alerts you would like to receive, download the mobile app (optional), and tell you friends and family about this new service. On the registration from be sure to select alerts for the Village of Williamsville as well as the Williamsville Police Department. You can register here: https://public.coderedweb.com/CNE/en-US/BF62D97A39A9
With Christmas at a close, we would like to remind the community of a few housekeeping rules regarding the cardboard recycling at the police department. This wonderful service is provided to Williamsville and Williams Township residents. With that said, these two containers, at this time of year, fill very quickly which begins to create problems around the site. If you use this service, you are required to break down all of you cardboard so it can lay as flat as possible. This is to create maximum space so your neighbors can use the service as well. If the containers are full, you must keep your items and try again in a few days. DO NOT leave your items outside of these containers. When one person leaves items outside it creates a snowball effect and before you know it, boxes are stacked all around the area. The company will not clean up after you and if they are not able to get to the containers they will not empty them. Next, these are not dumpsters, they are CARDBOARD ONLY. While cleaning the area and breaking down boxes, Officers filled the PD trash can with plastic, Styrofoam, metal, and everyday garbage.
Please do your part keeping this area clean.
REMINDER: This area is under 24/7 video surveillance. Items left outside of the container is considered illegal dumping which is punishable by a fine.
We would like to wish you and your families a happy and safe holiday!

The Williamsville Police Department had the honor of attending the funeral for Deputy Jacob Keltner. On March 7, 2019, Deputy Keltner was serving an arrest warrant on a violent individual. This individual fired on upon Deputy Keltner and ultimately he passed away. On March 13th thousands gathered to remember Deputy Keltner and show support and love to his family. While we did not know Deputy Keltner personally we do know that he was a son, a brother, a husband, a father, a police officer and he laid down his life protecting his community, strangers he may have never known. Deputy Keltner, while you may have left this earth, your spirit will live on within your family and those lives you have touched. May you rest easy knowing your family of blue will always be there for your family of blood.
The Williamsville Police Department would like to wish you a safe and happy new year. Be responsible, get a cab, call an uber, call a friend but please be Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive!!!!!
