🥵 WEEK OF EXTREME HEAT INCOMING! 🥵
County Family, we have a potentially dangerous week ahead. From Tuesday through Saturday afternoon, temperatures are forecasted to hit 95°F and could climb to a scorching 104°F! This kind of heat is life-threatening for our vulnerable neighbors—seniors, infants, and those without a home.

WE NEED YOUR HELP NOW! 🆘
We all know the standard cooling centers (libraries, recreation centers), but they aren't always accessible to everyone, and some might need closer, smaller alternatives.

Brainstorm Time! Drop your most CREATIVE, accessible, and inclusive ideas in the comments below:

🔘Where can people go that we aren’t thinking of?
🔘Think local, community-focused, and free or very low-cost.
🔘We want unconventional, neighbor-to-neighbor ideas!

Let's crowd-source a list of local, AC-equipped safe zones to protect our community. Your idea could save a life this week.

Let's make this the most engaged and safety-conscious county-wide brainstorming session yet!

🛑 Know the Signs: Heat Exhaustion vs. Life-Threatening Heat Stroke 🛑

With real-feel temperatures hitting 100°F+ across Sangamon County this week, you need to know exactly when a situation turns into a medical emergency.

Save this chart to your phone, share it on your timeline, and know what to look for:

😓 Heat Exhaustion (Act to Cool Down) 😓
👀 What to look for: Heavy sweating, dizziness, nausea, weakness, headache, and cool, clammy skin.

❄️ What to do: Move them to an air-conditioned space, loosen clothes, apply cool cloths, and have them sip water.

🚨 Heat Stroke (Call 911 Immediately) 🚨
👀 What to look for: High body temp (above 103°F), confusion, a throbbing headache, a fast pulse, and hot, red, dry skin with NO sweating.

☎️ What to do: This is a life-or-death emergency. Call 911 right away. Move them to shade or A/C, and cool them with damp cloths or a cool bath. Do not give them anything to drink.

Minutes matter. Watch for these signs in yourself, your coworkers, and your neighbors.
