At 1449, Willimantic Fire Fighters were dispatched to Casella Waste Systems for a report of a dump truck on fire with wires on top of the vehicle.

Upon arrival of C201, E101, & E201, crews found the trailer of a tractor-trailer actively on fire with electrical wires down on top of the trailer. Eversource was notified at the time of call and responded Priority 1 to the incident.

The driver had safely exited the vehicle and was uninjured prior to the arrival of fire crews.

Once Eversource secured the power and cut the lines, firefighters were able to quickly knock down the fire.

At 1611 hours, Willimantic Fire Fighters along with Windham Hospital Paramedics were dispatched to the area of Ash Street and Adelbert Street for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a single vehicle rollover with entrapment.

North Windham Rescue 102 was requested to assist with extrication operations, which involves the use of specialized tools and techniques to safely remove a trapped patient from a vehicle. Crews worked quickly to complete a brief extrication and safely remove the patient from the vehicle.

No patients were transported from this incident.

Last evening, Platoon 2 responded on Engine 1 for a reported mobile home fire.

Crews arrived to find fire on the porch with extension into the home. Quick deployment of hand lines brought it under control and kept damage to the residence to a minimum. No injuries were reported and the homeowner was able to exit safely.

North Windham, Windham Center, and South Windham volunteer departments responded , along with mutual aid from UConn, Scotland, and other surrounding towns.

Ambulance 601 also responded for a reported medical issue involving a neighbor across the street. The situation was placed under control and turned out to be less serious than reported, with no transport needed. The crew remained on scene as a standby resource for the duration of the incident.
