Tomorrow, 5/5/26, is the budget referendum. This brief overview explains how a late infusion of state funding helped soften the proposed tax increase, while preserving town and school services through spending reductions. Please take a moment to read it and remember to vote YES!

Thank you Willington! We helped push Ethan over the top with our fundraising pitch over the weekend!

Ethan Werstler is running for the 35th Senate District - please like and share this campaign kick-off video. He has already qualified for state matching funds, but he needs a few more small donations to get to 300 individual donations within the district. Please donate today:

The Willington DTC stands in solidarity with Tolland and all of the towns in the 35th Senate District - at a minimum, this process needs to slow down and give local voices a chance for discussion.

As Chairs of the Democratic Town Committees and members of the 35th DSCC representing the thirteen towns of Connecticut’s 35th State Senate District, we are united in expressing our concern regarding the State of Connecticut’s potential purchase of property in the Town of Tolland for a proposed juvenile justice facility, which was not disclosed until a few days ago.

We are disappointed that this potential purchase advanced without transparency or meaningful engagement with local officials or the community. Decisions of this scale, particularly those with potential long term impacts, should involve open communication and collaboration with the towns and residents who will be directly affected.

It is our hope that the state will now provide complete and timely information to municipal leaders so they can fully assess potential impacts to the town, including economic, infrastructure, public safety, and community considerations. Any action that impacts our towns deserves the input of our residents and their elected representatives.

Individually, we are small towns. Together, we are strong. We stand together in calling for transparency, partnership, and respect for local voices as this process moves forward.

Sincerely,

Chairs of the Democratic Town Committees and members of the 35th DSCC

Statement from the Willington DTC concerning ICE actions in Minnesota:

Alex Pretti was an American patriot.

He embodied the complexities of fervently supporting both the First and Second Amendments.

And that rub -- that demonstration of the American spirit and individualism from a man who taught other nurses how to preserve life above all else -- deprived him of his own life under federal sanction.

We reject this unAmerican narrative. Rest in peace, Alex.

A huge night for Willington Democrats! We won almost every race we ran in: we lost one race outright, will likely lose another on minority party rules, and have two races going to recount. We won the other 16 races where we fielded candidates!

Many thanks to all who voted today. Now the real work of governing begins - see you at town meeting?
