Effective immediately, the Floyd County countywide burn ban has been lifted.

Residents are reminded to continue using caution with any outdoor burning. Conditions can change quickly, and all burning should be done safely and responsibly.

Please also remember that any outdoor burning must still comply with all applicable state laws, local ordinances, and safety requirements.

Earlier this evening both Station 2 & 4 were dispatched to a structure fire off the parkway close to the Patrick County line. After units marked in route the decision was made to add Meadows of Dan Fire Department due to their proximity and the large amount of smoke units we’re seeing while responding. First in units found a 2 story residential building fully involved with some extension into the nearby woods. 3 hand lines were put into service and units worked for several hours on extinguishment and overhaul.
