LINDA ADAMS POSTED THIS - THANK YOU LINDA & FOR ALL YOU DO: I have stayed quiet trying to find the right words over a situation going on in this township.
As many of you have heard, a resident has started a recall on the entire board over a decision we made that she disagrees with.
A resident asked for several parcels of land to be rezoned from AR(agricultural residential) to GI (general industrial). Yes it was for the purpose of putting a data center. This was the first step in a long rigorous process.
Let me say. Every resident has the right to ask for this for their property . And again this is only the first step in the process. I guess this would be a good time to say. I actually don't like data centers or AI. But that brings me to my next and very important point. When you become a board member. Your personal feelings have to be thrown out the window. You don't get to vote your feelings. You have to follow the rules and laws And the master plan.
This original property is already zoned GI. This company could drop this business right in the center of this property and nobody could stop them if the planning commission, EGLE, county and state approved their site plans. They asked for the rezoning because they didn't want to destroy trees to make it fit. And to do that, they need the other parcels. It's being said that we approved a data center. And that could be no further from the truth. We voted for a rezoning. At no point was there EVER a vote for approving the data center.
Now comes the current situation. As I have said, a resident has started the process of re-call. The members of the board are in the appeal process currently. And it will be the courts decision on if the current petition will be allowed.
In the meantime, every board meeting, and on social media is filled with hate and the most vile and disgusting things being said. We have been accused of "lining our pockets", "making secret deals", having negative body language when insults are being flung by the dozens. And even accusations of bullying of board members by the supervisor. I guess people don't like it when you act like adults, talk things over, get along and get real work done. Tonight we were basically told that we don't matter. And that really stinks.
And NOW, they have contacted and apparently made a deal with a semi local restaurant to have a fund raiser to fund their little hate brigade. Yes that's right, a fundraiser!!!! Funny, not funny. We are being accused of lining our pockets. But who is doing a fundraiser for their political agenda.
This whole thing was started by a woman that was replaced on the planning commission after she was replaced at the end of her term. She was replaced for wrong doing.
Some of the people backing her is past board members that didn't make it through the last election. And we can't forget about the wizard hiding behind the curtain that is doing his best to keep his hands clean so he can try to regain his position.
They can start collecting signatures starting on April 1st, pending the court case. If the judge rules in our favor. Those petitions will be thrown out.
I'm asking everyone in this township to really stop and ask the questions. To not take their lies at face value. To really see what is really behind this recall.
This board has worked so hard and has already accomplished so much and has saved the residents so much money. We are putting in the work. We are going above and beyond what is required. Please don't fall for this garbage.
