The 86th Troop Command was busy this weekend! Early Sunday morning, Troop Command Headquarters conducted a test of the Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) within the Battalion.
1. 40 Soldiers with the 40th Army Band and 172nd Military Police Detachment (Law and Order) were alerted of an exercise and responded to the "emergency" within four hours. Both the 40th Army Band and 172nd Military Police Department are who the Governor calls when an emergency occurs within the state border. They serve at the forefront of the Vermont National Guard's National Guard Civil Support (NGCS) mission.
2. Charlie Company, 3-126 Aviation Battalion (Air Ambulance) conducted MEDEVAC operations, where they practiced their response to a real-life MEDEVAC mission within the State of Vermont. The crew of "Patriot 6" flew and landed at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Hospital in Lebanon, NH, where they practiced helipad landing and medical treatment in the air.
3. The 172nd Public Affairs Detachment interviewed LTC Chris Gookin, VTARNG Deputy State Surgeon, who commented on the VTARNG's Soldier Readiness Processing abilities.
