🔥 Wood Burning Pen Workshop
"Carving Our Spirit into the Grain"
For Sherwood Valley Tribal Community Members

🎟 Free – Open to all Tribal members (all ages welcome)

We invite you to gather with us in a good way to learn the traditional art of wood burning, where designs and stories are gently carried into the grain of the wood using heat pens and care.

This workshop is a space to connect to each other, and to the stories we carry. Through this hands-on practice, we honor the teachings passed down and create something that holds meaning for each of us.

Join us for our Sherwood Valley Tribal community-led workshop honoring the traditional ways of harvesting, preparing, and using the pine nut. We’ll gather together to share stories, teach skills, and connect with the gifts of the land.

Learn respectful harvesting practices

Hands-on cleaning of pine nuts from shell to seed

Stories and teachings about the role of pine in our lifeways

🔨 Drilling & Crafting

Learn to drill pine nuts safely for use in jewelry or traditional items

Make a necklace, charm, or keepsake to take home

Q: What are the camp dates?
A: 6/15-6/21 (note these dates fall on both Father’s Day & Juneteenth)

Q: Where will students be camping?
A: Oak Bottom Campground, Salmon River & two nights in high country wilderness.

Q: Group size?
A: Tentatively 15 (wilderness permit group size) but maybe accept up to 20, depending on interest and capacity.

Q: What if my child is turning 16?
A: They must be 16 by start date: June 15, 2025.

Attention community members.. We regret to inform you all that the Lake Day Scavenger Hunt, originally scheduled for April 1st, 2025, has been postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priorities, and we want to ensure that the event can take place under better conditions.
