FIVE “Es” OF TRAFFIC SAFETY:

Engineering, Enforcement, Education, Emerging Technology, and Emergency Medical Services.

The Mendocino Council of Governments is developing a comprehensive Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) for Mendocino County and the City of Willits. The LRSP will enable the County and City to enhance safety for all modes of transportation and for all ages and abilities.

An important goal is to create a decision-making process that relies on a partnership with stakeholders and the public using the five “Es” of traffic safety: Engineering, Enforcement, Education, Emerging Technology, and Emergency Medical Services.

WILDFIRE AWARENESS MONTH

Fire season has arrived in the City of Willits – the weather is heating up, relative humidity is dropping, and fuels like shrubs and weeds are drying and dying.

Removing tall weeds, vegetation, and other fire hazards from your property reduces the risk of fires spreading between properties and allows firefighters to extinguish small fires before they become major fires. Property owners are responsible for keeping their property clear of nuisance vegetation and other fire hazards.

To report overgrown vegetation or other fire hazards please visit the City of Willits Code Enforcement page and fill out and return a Code Enforcement Request Form:

IT ENDS TOMORROW!

Have you completed the Willits Urban Forest Management Plan Survey??

The City of Willits wants your input on taking care of our urban forest. The City's urban forest is made up of trees growing on private property, along City streets, and in parks. Willits is in the process of creating its Urban Forest Management Plan (UFMP), which will guide the City and tree care professionals to proactively and effectively manage our trees. The success of the UFMP relies on the public's input. To ensure the UFMP considers and incorporates the priorities of the people who live and work in Willits, the following survey is provided for your voice to be heard. We want to know where focus should be placed as the City's urban forest program is continually improved. Your feedback will be kept anonymous, and findings from the survey will only be reported in group form. All survey responses will be stored securely and confidentially. Your participation is completely voluntary, and you may stop the survey at any time. We appreciate you taking part in this important process. For additional information about the City's Urban Forest Management Plan, please contact Project Manager Ryan Allen at [email protected].

City Council Goals - INVITING PUBLIC INPUT

The Willits City Council retained Robert Perrault to facilitate sessions to assist the Council to identify and approve goals to guide the organization and to aid the development of the Fiscal Year 2021–2022 Budget. During these sessions, the Council received program updates from Department Heads and a budget summary projecting revenues and expenditures. The Council also discussed community-wide challenges and opportunities.

At this stage in the process, the City Council is seeking comments from the public on the proposed goals before reviewing and considering the comments at a special meeting on April 7th at 6:30 PM.

Please complete the survey by April 1st.
