We have 4 fawns in our care as of today! This doe fawn has had a rough start after suffering a head injury from falling off a steep hillside. After a week of intensive care she is drinking her special blacktail milk formula and getting stronger everyday. Reach out to our hotline if you encounter wildlife that you believe are injured or orphaned.

‘Tis the season!! We have received 3 fawn calls in the last couple of days. In their first couple of weeks of life, their only defense is to lay still and hope you don’t see them. If a fawn is laying quietly, leave it be and leave the area. If there is reason for concern, reach out to our hotline ASAP 707-984-6363

⚠️ Watch for deer on roadways ⚠️

Rutting season is upon us! Tha fall mating season for deer is mid to late October until December 🦌

Rutting season leads to an increase in traffic collisions involving wildlife. Many of these collisions happen at dawn and dusk, when deer a most active.

⚠️Drive with caution, especially at dawn and dusk
⚠️Use your high beams when appropriate
⚠️Scan the side of the road for eyes 👀
⚠️Watch for deer crossing signs
⚠️ If you encounter a deer in your lane, apply your brakes evenly and avoid swerving

This year, we’ve seen suspected cases of secondary poisoning in opossums, raccoons, owls, and foxes. Please encourage the use of alternative deterrents and humane traps that don’t jeopardize the broader ecosystem.
