The first day of school is officially in the books! 🎉 We loved seeing our 6–12th grade Cardinals back in the halls, classrooms, activities, and all the places that make Willmar Public Schools feel like home.

From reconnecting with friends to settling into new routines and starting a brand-new year of learning, today was full of new beginnings, smiles, and Cardinal pride! We can’t wait to see all that our students accomplish this year.

Kennedy, Roosevelt, and Lakeland families — Family Conferences are today, August 31, and tomorrow, September 1, from 7:30 AM–3:30 PM!

Our teachers and staff are excited to welcome families, connect with students, and help everyone get ready for a great school year. 📚❤️

☀️ Summer at Cardinal Place Childcare! 💛❤️

We had an awesome summer at Cardinal Place Childcare, welcoming so many children from our community! From fun activities and new adventures to making memories with friends, it was a great summer filled with smiles and plenty of fun. 🧸☀️🎨

And remember—Cardinal Place Childcare is open year-round! Our childcare program operates in different buildings throughout the district, providing care for children and families throughout the year.

🍎 Welcome to Willmar Public Schools! ❤️

Our newest teachers kicked off their Willmar Public Schools journey during New Teacher Orientation, August 18–20!

Throughout the three-day orientation, new staff members had the opportunity to meet with district staff, learn more about Willmar Public Schools, connect with fellow new teachers, and get familiar with the district and the communities we serve.

To wrap up the week, our new teachers headed to their individual buildings to work alongside their administrative teams, learn more about their schools, and get a feel for what their first year will look like. 🏫📚

We're so excited to welcome these new educators to the Cardinal family and can't wait to see the impact they'll make in our schools! Welcome to the team! 🎉

Our annual Willmar Community Education Fun Fair was filled with fun, laughter, and plenty of activities for kids to enjoy! ☀️

From the rock climbing wall and face painting to yard games, bouncy houses, snow cones, and so much more, there was something for everyone! 🧗‍♀️🎨🛝🍧

We’re excited to welcome students and families to Willmar Public Schools Open House on Wednesday, August 26! Come explore the buildings, meet teachers and staff, and get ready for a great school year! ❤️

📍 Area Learning Center (and Willmar Online): 3:30–6:30 PM
📍 Senior High: 4:30–6:30 PM
📍 Middle School: 5:30–7:30 PM

🎓 Freshman/New Student Meeting:
Join us in the Brau Performing Arts Center from 5:30–6:15 PM during Open House. This meeting is for freshmen and new students and their families.

🌳 Principals in the Park!

Lakeland Elementary Principal Gretchen Baumgarn and Assistant Principal Rikka Williamson kicked off a brand-new tradition this summer with their first-ever “Principals in the Park” event!

They visited parks in Svea, Willmar, and Kandiyohi to connect with students, catch up on their summer adventures, and hear all about how their summer has been going. And, of course, no park visit is complete without a freeze pop! 🍧

What a fun way to wrap up summer, reconnect with our Lakeland families, and get everyone excited for the new school year! We can’t wait to see all of our students back at Lakeland! 📚❤️

Work continues throughout Willmar Middle School! From classrooms and hallways to new ceiling work, the building is taking shape as summer projects move forward. 👷‍♂️🔨
