The Willoughby Senior Center took a 4 day bus trip to the Smoky Mountains at the end of November. We toured the Great Smoky Mountains - the pictures of the views do not do it justice. We had tastings at the Ole Smoky Moonshine Distillery. The Hatfield & McCoy Christmas Dinner Disaster and Dolly Parton's Stamede Dinner Show are shows that you have to put on your bucket list to see. We saw two different shows at the Country Tonite Theatre. Dollywood's Smoky Mountain Christmas was spectacular, including taking a ride on the coal burning steam engine. We went back to see the lights at Dollywood and it was wonderful. Thanks to everyone who made this trip amazing!

Cleveland’s ‘Mr. Christmas,’ Bill Hixson, dies at 93

The Willoughby Senior Center visited Hixon's Inc in the beginning of November. We met the owner, Mr. Bill Hixson, "Mr Christmas." We just learned of his recent passing at age 93. Cleveland.com has a nice write up about him here. https://www.cleveland.com/community/2022/12/clevelands-mr-christmas-bill-hixson-dies-at-93.html

Bill Hixson, known to generations of Clevelanders as "Mr. Christmas" at the holiday shop he started in Lakewood in 1959, has died. He was 93.

Someone left there phone at willoughby outdoor pickleball court today. Contact Peggy Lanning Wyszynski she has it
Since the Y is holding a golf outing at Quail Hollow for the lake county kids, what are the chances of the Senior Center having the annual Lake County senior golf outing at Lost Nation in September?
Thank you for the phone call (Becky) checking on me. Doing fine; out walking every day. My hyacinths are blooming bringing life to my flower beds. Everyone stay safe. We’ll eventually be back at the center and resuming our wonderful day trips (which I miss).
I got a phone call/message today from a Senior Center staff member...calling to check up on me....just to make sure all was Ok and to call the staff if anything was needed. HUGE BIG THANK YOU TO WILLOUGHBY SENIOR CENTER STAFF for taking time to reach out to our members! 💕💕💕

Around 12:30 when I was walking to my car in the parking lot with my two small children this man started yelling things at me from his car. A woman even walked by and asked me what his problem was. He told me I had parked in the wrong parking lot — that we were in the one for the senior center. (He said nothing to the other woman.)
This is my 1st time at this location but I saw no signs that I was in the wrong place, neither on the way in nor while looking for it on the way out. Normally I would ignore him but I felt very unsafe — he came around the back side of the cars in between us while I was buckling my toddler in his seat and I heard more words including “you people.” When I said “everything’s gonna be ok” his exact words were: “not for you, it won’t be soon.” When I got out my phone to take pictures he proceeded to say I was what was wrong with the country and spoke aggressively towards me while walking towards the senior center. I felt threatened and harassed. I wanted to go inside to say something but I was shaking and decided what I really wanted was to get away from him as fast as I could.

Please let me know if I was in fact in the wrong place and please let me know if he will be contacted and reprimanded so that I can feel better about returning. A woman and two small kids shouldn’t be shaken up and crying on the way home from the YMCA.

Not sure if this page can help. But, don't ask don't get. Here goes. I had a Pen-Pal in the 1960's from Willoughby, Ohio. Long shot does anyone know a Gail Clift. She would be in her late 60's now. Thanks for reading xXx
