If someone calls and asks you to buy a gift card or cryptocurrency to pay a fine, STOP.
It’s a scam.
These kind of scams start with a call, text, email or social media message. The person contacting you is, they say, from the government. (They’re not.) They say to pay right away or something terrible will happen. (It won’t.)
• A police department or other law enforcement agency will NEVER contact you via phone or text stating you have an outstanding warrant or unpaid tickets.
• ALWAYS verify the source that is requesting any type of payment. Search the company and call the listed phone number, not the one the caller provided.
• ASK for more details.
• NEVER give any money over the phone.
• If selling items on Facebook Marketplace or any other social media sites for buying/selling items, do NOT accept cashiers checks over the amount of sale. They will ask you to deposit the check and then ask you to send the extra back to them.
• DON’T send cash, wire money, or give out personal information.
A legitimate organization WILL NOT ask for payments by gift card, cryptocurrency, bank transfer, or ask you to provide personal information, such as your social security number. If you get a call like this, hang up the phone.
To report a scam, please call the Willow Park Police Department at 817-441-9747.

Here's what we hope is the last winter storm update! Republic Services expects to run their Willow Park routes normally tomorrow. Recycling will NOT be collected. Normal trash and recycling schedules resume next Tuesday.
Roads are looking much better and Kings Gate hill has reopened. We still advise caution in case of slick spots, especially in shady areas.
Thank you all for being SO cautious during the storm and helping us avoid any major incidents! We are a stronger community together. 💚

Roads update: workers spent yesterday and today working on clearing main roads throughout the city, and most thoroughfares are clear enough to travel. Thank you to all the crew members who worked throughout the storm to keep our water flowing and clear our streets after!
Side streets in neighborhoods are still sketchy so please go slow and use caution when traveling. There is a chance everything wet could refreeze overnight, impacting the morning commute. Kings Gate hill remains closed until we get more of a thaw, please use alternate routes.

The City of Willow Park is under a Winter Storm Warning beginning January 23 at 6 p.m. through noon January 25 and an Extreme Cold Warning from January 24 at 6 p.m. though noon January 26. City emergency personnel will be on duty for the duration of the weather and will be available to assist our residents and businesses as needed.

We are advising everyone else to please stay home if you can. Ice and dangerously low temperatures will make travel extremely hazardous.

As you head into the New Year’s Eve festivities, we’d like to remind all residents of Willow Park that the sale, possession, and use of fireworks within the city is AGAINST THE LAW, period. At best, you will be fined if you’re violating the ordinance. At worst, you could be charged with arson if you start a fire. This includes even the “little ones” like sparklers (which get as hot as a blowtorch, by the way).
To report fireworks, please call the fireworks hotline at (682) 333-0002. To report a fire, call 911.
This is also your reminder to celebrate responsibly and have a designated driver if you’re drinking.
Make good choices for your neighbors, your property, your community, and your first responders. As always, we will be here if you need us.
