NOTICE OF APPEAL PROCESS REGARDING THE REVISED FLOOD INSURANCE RATE MAP (FIRM) AND FLOOD INSURANCE STUDY (FIS) REPORTS
1. Notice of proposed flood hazard determinations comment and appeal process were published in the Howell County News and West Plains Daily Quill approx. July 15.
2. The 90-day appeal period will begin after the 2nd publication of the public notification.
3. Only appeals of the proposed flood hazard determinations considered will be the ones that are scientifically or technically supported, or ones submitted to make corrections regarding incorrect street names, typographical errors or omissions.
4. Comments will be received by owners or lessees of real property in our city limits who believe their property rights will be adversely affected by the proposed flood hazard maps at City Hall, 900 W Main Street, or can be emailed to [email protected].
5. Maps of the proposed flood hazard maps and the FIS are available to view at the website: https://hazards.fema.gov/femaportal/prelimdownload
6. The City will review and consolidate any appeal data supplied by the community and issue a written opinion stating the evidence provided is sufficient to justify an official appeal and will be sent to FEMA Region 7, Attn: Dawn Livingston at [email protected]
7. FEMA will consider all comments and appeal data and if warranted FIS reports and FIRMS will be revised as may be appropriate. Final decisions will be sent to the City of Willow Springs and any appellant involved.
8. A Letter of Final Determination which finalizes the flood hazard information will be presented on revised FIRMs and FIS report and will establish an effective date.
9. As participators of the State NFIP, the Council will adopt such maps.
