Every May we take a moment to honor the educators who have dedicated their careers to the children of Gower, and this year we have five incredible people to celebrate.

Ms. Cheryl Wander, Ms. Lisa Hoffman, Ms. Margie Kielty, Ms. Tammy Lange, and Ms. Rebecca Laratta, the fingerprints of your work are all over this community. In the students who grew under your care, the families you supported, and the colleagues whose lives you made better simply by showing up alongside them.

There is something truly special about watching former students walk back through our doors.

This week we welcomed our Gower Seniors — students now finishing their senior year of high school — back to Gower Middle for a visit on the eve of their graduation. It is a tradition we treasure deeply, and one that speaks to the lasting bonds formed here. We are so proud of the young adults you have become.

We have some exciting news to share with our Gower West families. Ms. Natalie Harden has been approved by the Board of Education as the new Assistant Principal of Gower West, beginning July 1st.

Ms. Harden brings over 20 years of experience in education, including roles as a classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, Interim Principal, and most recently Assistant Principal at Peotone Junior High School.

Her student-centered approach and genuine passion for building relationships make her a perfect addition to our community. We are so excited to welcome her to the Gower family and look forward to introducing her to families in the coming weeks.

4th grade parents, this one is for your kids!

The 4th Grade Glow Party is happening Friday, May 22 from 7 to 9 PM at the Willowbrook-Burr Ridge Sports Performance Center.

Tickets are $20 per student and the night includes a live DJ, pizza, glow sticks, and snacks. Parents can scan this code (physical flyer also sent home in kids' take-home folders) for volunteer sign up.

Gower West 2nd through 4th graders had a very special visitor!

Author Tom Watson stopped by for a visit that had our students excited about reading and writing. Experiences like this remind our kids that stories matter and that real authors are just people with something to say.
