The mid summer-like heat and humidity will persist into Saturday, followed by lower humidity and slightly cooler temperatures on Sunday and Labor Day Monday. After any Friday morning showers and storms over northeast Illinois and far northwest Indiana dissipate, the only thunderstorm chances for the holiday weekend will be mainly be after dark on Friday night and into early Saturday.
