A very big thank you to Mission-bbq for providing lunch for the duty crew yesterday! We highly recommend checking out their new location that opens next month in Mentor at 7787 Reynolds Rd. The food is amazing and all made in-house! The support they provide to local first responders and our veterans is unbelievable! They are truly a company that gives back to the people who serve you and our wonderful country!

Your Willowick Firefighters have been busy the last 24 hours. Our department responded to 2 different working fires in our city within 13 hours of each other. The first one occurred at 1458 Hrs. On Pendley and then another at 0439 Hours on Glenhurst. And this does not to include the numerous other calls that were handled by our members within that time frame which included multiple EMS calls, a natural gas leak, a wiring problem (that almost cause a third fire) and a couple alarm activations.

No fire related injuries were reported from the two fires.

Thank you to our surrounding departments that assisted in the safe and efficient extinguishment of the fires!

Vote yes today!!

Please spread the word and help get this passed!

The fire department is respectfully requesting you to pass the 0.5% Income Tax Increase. We understand decisions like these are often difficult but the reality is these funds are greatly needed for city services, namely the Fire Department. We operate on a very lean budget that leaves no room for needed safety upgrades to the fire station and our equipment.

Facts to consider:

**Retirement and investment income is exempt

**Alimony, disability and unemployment benefits are also exempt

**Residents who work outside of Willowick will continue to receive a credit of up to 2.19% on their income taxes

Without this increase the services and capabilities of the Fire Department will be significantly impacted.

EUCLID HOUSE SUFFERS FIRE DAMAGE

At 3:37 pm on Wednesday, October 30, the Euclid Fire Department (EFD) responded to a call of for a house on fire at 274 East 195th St. On arrival, the two and one-half story home had flames coming from the attic at the front of the house.

At the time of the fire, all EFD vehicles were assigned to other calls. A ladder truck was able to clear the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Babbitt Rd. to respond along with the shift commander. While en route, mutual aid was summoned bringing firefighters from South Euclid, Willowick, and Wickliffe to the scene within minutes.

When the first truck arrived flames were coming from the eaves indicating a working fire within the one-family structure. The first five firefighters on the scene pulled an hoseline inside the house to locate and control the fire. The EFD was told nobody was inside. Next, crews from South Euclid, Wickliffe, Willowick, and the remaining EFD units arrived and assisted in controlling the blaze using additional hose lines.

Flame damage was limited to a second-floor bedroom and attic space above, the origin and cause is under investigation by the EFD Fire Investigation Unit (FIU) with assistance from the Hillcrest FIU. There was smoke damage throughout. Damage is estimated at $45,000.

It’s a beautiful day to test hose. Every year the department is required to complete an annual inspection and testing of all fire hose. This is to ensure that not only do we meet national standards but more importantly that our equipment is ready to respond to any emergency.

I HAVE AN IDEA TO BRING AWARENESS TO THE PLIGHT OF THE PALUMBO FAMILY. ALONG WITH DISPLAYING YOUR "JUSTICE FOR PALUMBO" SIGN, WHY NOT CHANGE YOUR PORCH LIGHT TO RED? IT WILL BE EYE- CATCHING AND WILL KEEP EVERYONE TALKING ABOUT THIS VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE!
JUSTICE FOR PALUMBO‼️
A huge thank-you to the four firefighters/EMTs who transported my mom to Lake West on Christmas! You were so kind to a 101 year old lady! I'm sorry I didn't get anyone's names because I was pretty upset. She's fine, I'm happy to say, got to go home last night and is a bit tired today but sassy as ever.
