Memorial Day is far more than just another three day weekend. It's a day when we pause and reflect on those we've lost, especially those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We honor their memories by striving to serve our community and country to the best of our ability.

Well said by Orland Fire. When you donate to your local volunteer fire departments, every single dollar goes towards repairing and replacing worn out protective equipment, purchasing new lifesaving tools, and funding for training opportunities. When you make a donation you're directly helping to keep your firefighters safe, and therefore keeping our entire community safer. Yourself included.

Yesterday's fire in Orland showcased how crucial this equipment and training is as Firefighters from all over Glenn County responded to assist. It also showed how important working together is, as well as the importance of our mutual aid program.

Our hearts go out to the family who's residence was impacted by this fire.

UPDATE 1625: A Glenn County All-Call has been toned out for this fire.

Willows Fire is responding mutual aid to Orland for a confirmed residential structure fire in the area of Railroad Avenue. Artois and Capay Fire are also responding. Please be wary of responding emergency vehicles.

Our Red Flag warning has been extended due to the wind storm lasting longer than expected and temperatures rising this week. We have already had multiple calls across the county for powerlines down, and large portions of our region are without power due to the PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff or these downed lines.

Willows Fire along with several other neighboring departments have formed a Pre-Positioned Strike Team to respond immediately to any major incidents that may occur both in their home jurisdiction and for mutual aid calls.

Remember to report any hazards you may come across and do NOT approach downed power lines.
