It’s time for another Meet the Team Monday! 📚 This month, we’re saying hi to our new Circulation assistant, Rachel Rothe. Get to know Rachel:

•What’s the last great book you read?
My Work by Olga Ravn — it’s brilliant! It mixes fiction, poetry, and memoir to tell the story of a pregnancy, birth, and postpartum years. Highly recommend if you like experimental fiction!

•What’s the first book you remember reading?
The Babysitter’s Club, Nancy Drew, & Goosebumps are the first books I remember choosing for myself. I think I came pretty close to reading the entirety of all three series!

•When you’re not at the library, what do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Reading, of course, preferably with a coffee and my golden retriever Jonny snuggled up to me! But also traveling, watching baseball or Jeopardy, and browsing used bookstores (ideally one with a resident cat!)

•If you could travel to one place you've read about in a book, what place would you visit and what book was it from?
Earlier this year I read Confessions of a Bookseller by Shaun Blythell and now I’m dying to visit the bookshop from the book, aptly titled The Bookshop, in Wigtown, Scotland. If you’ve ever been a bookseller or just enjoy dry humor, you’ve got to read this book, it’s hilarious!

•What is your favorite part about working in a library?
The only thing I love more than physically reading books is talking about books. I love being at the Circulation Desk where I get to chat with patrons about what they’re checking out and reading. I also love seeing how excited so many kids are to get their library cards and check out books for the first time!

We were thrilled to partner with Wilmette Public Schools District 39 and their member PTAs and PTOs to welcome children's author Grace Lin to our community, and all four District 39 elementary schools earlier this week!

Grace shared about her process, led a fun draw-along activity, and signed books for many enthusiastic readers. Attendees also enjoyed a reader's theater performance by students from Highcrest Middle School and Wilmette Junior High School.
