The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago is currently offering discounted rain barrels to Cook County residents while supplies last. Rain barrels allow you to capture rainwater from your roof, offering a sustainable water source for various uses. Installing a rain barrel can help prevent basement backups, street flooding, and sewer overflows.

Rain Barrels cost $21.50, or $10.75 for individuals 65 and older. Click here to order: https://loom.ly/btG3PQE deliveries will begin in April.

🗳️While the Chicago joke has been “Vote Early, Vote Often” - it’s actually not a thing: The authorities are on top of keeping the voter rolls clean of deceased voters. See how Illinois State Board of Elections ensures that elections are safe, accessible and legal. ↘️

Don't be fooled, ghosts aren't casting ballots in Illinois elections. The authorities are on top of keeping the voter rolls clean of deceased voters.

Late last week, there was a reported encounter with an aggressive coyote at Elmwood Dunes Preserve. The Village immediately closed off the dunes and installed signage notifying visitors of aggressive coyote behavior. Over the past week the Village has worked in consultation with wildlife services and an animal control expert to investigate the incident including onsite tracking and video surveillance. No evidence of a coyote den was found in public areas including Elmwood Dunes and Langdon and Gillson beaches. Elmwood Dunes will re-open to the public on Friday at 2pm and we ask visitors to proceed with caution and be extra attentive with small dogs and children. Wednesday evening update:

Camp Families: Thank you for your continued patience during this time. We have more information to share with you on Summer Camp registration.

New Registration Dates: We have reset Summer Camp registration for Wilmette residents to Saturday, February 24, beginning at 9 a.m. Non-residents can register the following Saturday, March 2 at 9 a.m. We heard your suggestions and hope the change to Saturday registration will make the process a little easier for our families.

In-person registration will only be available at the Community Recreation Center (3000 Glenview Road) and Centennial Recreation Complex (2300 Old Glenview Road). For religious accommodations, please contact us at 847-256-6100.

Refunds: As mentioned last night, to make sure everyone has a fair opportunity to register for their preferred camps, all transactions processed yesterday will be cancelled and refunded. A separate email with more details will be sent out shortly to those families.

Making Improvements: We are excited to share we will have new technology in place that can handle greater capacity on the new registration dates. We're confident it will provide a smoother registration experience. Keep an eye out for more details that will be shared in the coming days.

Dear Camp Families:

We are sorry. We share your frustration caused by our system shutdown during this morning’s Summer Camp registration. We know that many of you plan your schedule and take time away from your everyday activities to register for camp. This was supposed to be a simple task, and unfortunately, it ended up a difficult and disappointing morning.

This morning’s heavy registration traffic caused the system to crash. The system is still offline and we don’t have a new registration date yet. But we do know it will be very soon. We are working to identify a new date and time for registration, and will share that information with you as soon as we have it.

Despite an earlier statement that we would honor processed registrations, due to the nature of the system outage we are unable to determine with certainty everyone who successfully completed a registration, and in what order. To facilitate a fair registration process, we have decided to refund all camp registrations processed today. This way, when we hold camp registration again, everyone will have an equal opportunity to register for their preferred camps.

We will stay in touch through email, and post updates on our website here. If you would like to contact me directly, please email me any time at [email protected].

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work to get the system online.

Steve Wilson
Executive Director
Wilmette Park District

Dear resident summer camp families,

We apologize for the frustration and confusion caused by our website and registration software crashing this morning, February 6.

We have been unsuccessful in re-establishing connection in a timely manner and have thus decided to suspend resident camp registration for today.

It is our desire to ensure patrons are able to register for their desired programs in a fair and efficient manner, and we will be working to arrange next steps for summer camp registration which will be announced by the end of today, February 6.

Registrations that have been processed will be honored. A follow-up email will be sent as soon as these next steps have been arranged.
