Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States, and symbolizes the resilience and freedom of African Americans. Today, and everyday we must take time to reflect on the legacy and contributions of African Americans that have shaped our country.

We must continue advocating for justice, while acknowledging the sacrifice it took to get to this point.

Today Delaware mourns the profound loss of a dedicated public servant, Mike Purzycki. In his service to New Castle County and as Mayor of the City of Wilmington, he brought to life a vision of opportunity, highlighting just how much this Tiny Wonder has to offer. His successes reflected the strength of our party and our shared dedication to moving the First State forward. His love for Delaware was unwavering and will remain a lasting part of his legacy as we come together to celebrate his life. We extend our sincerest condolences to his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him during this difficult time.
