George and June Tregembo first opened the park doors in 1952 with just a handful of species. Today we have over 100 species of animals including a variety of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Weather permitting, we plan to be open Saturday, Sunday, and Labor Day Monday! We hope you will visit us and the animals! Hours are 10-4, last admission at 3pm, weather permitting. Hours are subject to change if weather necessitates. We will be open weekends until closing for the winter season, so stay tuned! 🐾

Giraffes are naturally curious creatures! They often approach, observe, and investigate new and unfamiliar things that enter their areas. They will even watch lions before deciding whether or not to flee from the predators! Jambo delights visitors here at the park when he walks over to have a closer look at them! Like Jambo, we enjoy meeting new people and learning new things about the world around us! 🦒

Have a look at this cutie! This Colorado River toad is always up for a snack! You can see some of these amazing amphibians in the park’s Herpetarium. In the wild, these omnivorous burrowers keep ecosystems in balance, keep soil healthy, and provide shelter for other animals. They deserve our protection!

Here is a rare glimpse of a leopard awake! Leopards often sleep anywhere from 12 to 18 hours a day! They are most active at night, at dusk, and at dawn. They prefer to sleep in caves or trees, so the leopards that live at the park are provided with rocky seclusion and branches and platforms. They face many human threats in the wild and deserve our protection! Won’t you join us on our mission to care for and save species?! See you at the zoo! 🐾

Isn’t this brown lemur the cutest thing you’ve seen all day?! Brown lemurs and other lemurs face threats in their Madagascar homes. One is the burning of their forests to make charcoal. If the people of Madagascar use alternative energy sources, the forests and the lemurs can be saved! You can visit a couple of brown lemurs and a number of other lemurs here at the park. Please join us on our mission to save species everywhere! 🐾

Enrichment for the animals can take many forms. Here, we see a volunteer reading fan mail to the black-and-white ruffed lemurs. (Thanks to all who submitted love notes to the animals!) The sounds and interaction provide something new and interesting in the lemurs’ day. Owners, staff, volunteers, and keepers provide many different kinds of enrichment. That is part of the total care Tregembo Animal Park gives to each animal at the zoo! We invite you to visit and learn more about animal care, conservation, and the wild world! 🐾💕

Whooo’s the largest owl in the land? Technically, the Eurasian Eagle-Owl is the second-largest owl in the world, but we won’t tell Woodsy that! He guards and stands watch over the park from his chosen perch within his habitat home. He is given a flight cage, a variety of tree limbs, and a protected view. His favorite treat is—you guessed it—mice! While these owls are not endangered, they do face threats in the wild. Hunting, collisions with power lines and other manmade objects, poisons, and other hazards are causing their numbers to decline. They keep ecosystems in balance, and they deserve our protection! 🦉
