It’s our 30th year of serving our community, and like most 30-year-olds… we had a bit of a quarter-life crisis. So, we got a new website.

We are excited to officially share the new online home for WARM NC! Designed with our homeowners, volunteers, donors, and community in mind, the new site offers easier navigation, updated resources, and a fresh new look that reflects who we are today and where we are headed.

A huge thank you to Wise Raven Consulting for bringing our vision to life and, most importantly, helping keep our homeowners at the center of every decision throughout the process.

We hope you enjoy exploring the new site as much as we enjoyed creating it.

Check it out at the link in our bio!

We are incredibly thankful to have been chosen as the April Nonprofit of the Month through WWAY TV 3 Degree Guarantee, sponsored by Salt Air Heating, Cooling & Electrical!

Each night the StormTrack 3 weather team predicts the next day’s high temperature, and every forecast within 3 degrees results in a donation to a local nonprofit. Thanks to their accurate forecasting, $440 was donated to WARM NC in April to support safe and healthy housing across southeastern North Carolina!

Thank you to WWAY News, StormTrack 3 WWAY Chief Meteorologist Lee Haywood, and Salt Air Heating, Cooling & Electrical for investing in local nonprofits and the communities we serve. We are grateful for your support and proud to be part of a community that gives back in meaningful ways! 🏠💙

Meet Wayne, WARM NC’s Facilities Coordinator!

“When I retired, I hoped to spend my time doing something meaningful, something I chose because it brought me joy and purpose, not because I had to.”

Wayne first joined WARM NC as a volunteer before stepping into his current role as Facilities Coordinator. Through the stories and experiences shared by homeowners, he quickly saw how important safe housing truly is, and how even small acts of care can make a lasting difference.

Today, Wayne helps keep our facilities running while continuing to support a mission that allows homeowners across southeastern North Carolina to remain safe in their homes for as long as possible.

We are thankful for Wayne’s compassion, dedication, and the heart he brings to WARM NC every day. 💙

We’re thankful to spend another week alongside the students from WCU Wesley as they served homeowners across southeastern North Carolina!

This week, volunteers worked on two different rebuild sites, helping complete essential repairs that improve safety and accessibility for local homeowners. One group removed carpet, carpet tacks, and staples to prepare rooms for new flooring installation, while also framing and pouring concrete for a walkway repair. The second group removed damaged flooring from a living room, removed an existing front porch ramp, and began construction on a brand new ramp.

From flooring prep to accessibility repairs, every project moved forward because of volunteers willing to give their time and energy to serve others. Thank you, WCU Wesley, for continuing to show up for our neighbors and helping create safer homes and stronger communities! 💙👏

Where you live impacts more than your physical safety, it impacts your mental health too.

Research continues to show the strong connection between housing instability, poor housing conditions, and mental health outcomes for both children and adults. Unsafe or unhealthy housing can contribute to stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and emotional distress, especially for households already facing financial hardship or barriers to care.

At WARM NC, we see firsthand how safe, stable housing can restore not only a home but provide peace of mind, dignity, independence, and a stronger foundation for overall well-being. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage our community to recognize housing as an important part of health.

Swipe through to learn more about the connection between housing and mental health!

Sources consulted include Mental Health America, National League of Cities, NIH, Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation, and peer-reviewed research studies.

A special thank you to Konrady & Son Construction for spending time with us to help make a homeowner’s house safer and more functional!

During the project, volunteers installed new flooring, replaced a bathroom vanity, and installed a new front door. These repairs will help improve daily safety and accessibility within the home.

Thank you Konrady & Son Construction, LLC!💙👏

This Mother’s Day, we’re thinking of the many mothers, daughters, sons, and families who work together to care for the people they love. ❤

At our Gala, the daughter of one of our homeowners, Amelia, shared what WARM NC’s repairs meant to her family:

“WARM responded to the needs of my elderly parent. Those needs were met. They were able to accomplish a safer home for her.”

Her advocacy, care, and support for her mother throughout the repair process was a powerful reminder that safe housing impacts entire families, not just one person.

Happy Mother’s Day to the mothers, caregivers, daughters, and families who show up for one another every day. We’re proud to play a small role in helping families remain safe at home.
