Today, we celebrated the dedication of the new Station 20 and Headquarters, marking a major step forward in strengthening protection and service to our community.

This facility represents more than a new fire station. Station 20 will help improve response times in a growing area of the county while also serving as the department’s centralized headquarters. Bringing administration and leadership together under one roof will improve coordination, communication, and support across all 9 stations countywide.

As New Hanover County continues to grow, this investment helps ensure we are prepared to meet the evolving needs of the community today and into the future.

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate this important milestone.

Two quick things about fire:

1. See smoke? You may be seeing drifts from an active wildfire in Marion County (NE SC). Don't be alarmed. Just be aware and mindful of your surroundings. Air quality will be slightly degraded while the haze persists, so take precautions for those with respiratory conditions.

2. This is a good time to remind everyone that the local burn ban in still in effect. This applies to all open burns in the county, including those within 100 feet of an occupied dwelling. Make Smokey proud, help prevent fires, and keep our community safe.
