Learning Hands-Only CPR takes only a few minutes, but those skills can make a lifetime of difference. Eric's project helped bring that knowledge directly to his community.

Fire safety looks different for every household. Brian's project helped identify residents who may benefit from specialized alerting devices, making our community safer and more inclusive.

Station tours are a great opportunity for people of all ages to learn about a firefighter’s gear, explore the fire trucks and equipment, and discover what a typical day in the life of a firefighter looks like.

Through this project, Stephen created lithium-ion battery safety education materials that will continue to support our community outreach efforts. His work ensures residents receive clear, consistent fire safety information as lithium-ion battery use continues to grow.

🎆 Happy Independence Day from New Hanover County Fire Rescue!

We hope you and your family have a fun, safe, and memorable Fourth of July.

Our recommendation is simple: leave the fireworks to the professionals and enjoy one of the many community fireworks displays.

If you choose to use legal consumer fireworks at home, please do so responsibly:
🎇 Use them on a flat, hard, clear surface.
💧 Keep a bucket of water or hose nearby.
↔️ Maintain a safe distance from people, pets, homes, and dry grass.
🚫 Never relight a firework that doesn't ignite.
🚗 Never use fireworks while impaired by alcohol or drugs.

A few extra minutes of caution can prevent a lifetime of regret.

This past week New Hanover County Fire Rescue hosted our 5th Annual FIRES at Maides Park — Fire Igniting Readiness, Emergency Preparedness, and Safety! 🔥

We reached nearly 200 campers and leaders through this event, and it was an incredible day of learning, hands-on activities, and community connection.

This event wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing partners: Wilmington, NC Fire Department, Wilmington, NC Police Department, New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, WMPO, Cape Fear Museum, New Hanover County Public Library,
New Hanover Soil & Water Conservation District, and the Red Cross

It’s always a highlight to see the campers light up during the Firefighter Fashion Show — their cheers and excitement make it all worth it! 🚒❤️

Grateful for another successful year of FIRES and everyone who helped make it possible.

Safe Summer Camp is officially underway, and we've already had the opportunity to connect with one of our largest groups of campers! ☀️🚒
We look forward to this annual event each year and are grateful for the continued partnership with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office as we work together to promote safety, learning, and fun throughout the summer.
