September is here—and there’s even more reason to celebrate! 🥳 September is National Senior Center Month, and this year’s theme, “Happier Birthdays Happen Here,” celebrates the connections, opportunities, and support that help us live well at every age. 💙

At the Senior Resource Center, happier birthdays start with connection, purpose, wellness, learning, and community. 🤝💪📚❤️ Throughout September, we’ll be celebrating all the ways SRC helps bring these things together through special events, activities, and our regular programs.

🌟 FEATURE FRIDAY: Celebrating Our Amazing RSVP Volunteers! 🌟

Over the past five days, the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP team celebrated hundreds of our incredible volunteers with a special drive-thru recognition event at the Senior Resource Center! 🚗🎉

As a small token of our appreciation, each volunteer received a beach towel—and, most importantly, a BIG THANK YOU for their remarkable service! 💙🏖️

🙌 More than 800 RSVP volunteers share their time and talents with nearly 30 community organizations and programs throughout New Hanover County.

We truly couldn’t do it without you! Thank you for making such a meaningful difference in our community. ❤️

We’re excited to share a new live, low-cost online music wellness program for people living with dementia and their caregivers! 🎵

Our friend Tara with Harmony In Dementia is offering a meaningful way to connect through singing, listening, and moving together—all from the comfort of home. 🏡✨

This program may be a great option for:
🎵 People living with dementia and family caregivers unable to attend in person
💙 Family members who live far apart and want to enjoy a meaningful activity together
🤝 Caregivers looking for an accessible social activity
🌟 Older adults experiencing isolation or limited social opportunities
🏠 Home care clients seeking meaningful engagement and connection

Grief looks different for everyone, and having a supportive place to learn, reflect and connect can make a difference. Liberty Hospice is offering a free Navigating Loss Virtual Series, designed to help individuals explore the emotions and experiences that come with loss in a compassionate online setting. Participants are welcome to attend the sessions that best fit their needs and schedule.
