The Midewin IHC is a wildland firefighting crew hosted by the Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in Wilmington, Illinois and administered by the U.S. Forest Service, in the Eastern Region (R-9). We are a national resource that responds to wildfires, prescribed fire/fuel reduction support, and all-risk assignments. Teamwork, crew cohesion, and pride are the cornerstones of the Midewin IHC program w

We've finished helping the Allegheny National Forest with the Tracy Ridge Prescribed Fire. We hit a bit of a milestone! That means the crew has been operational on all US Forest Service units in the Eastern Region. We're now traveling to support forests in Michigan and Wisconsin.
