Happy New Year! As many of you know, we have now passed the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene. While life has largely moved forward in many places, Western North Carolina is still facing daily challenges.

There are ongoing needs throughout the region. Many families are still relying on generators for electricity, and after more than a year of constant use, a number of those generators are failing and need to be replaced.

This weekend, Wilmington Response is making a trip to the mountains with two donated vehicles and a generator.

🚨If you have a working generator that you are no longer using and would be willing to donate it to support Western North Carolina, we would be grateful to include it in this load. Heaters and wood burning stoves are also needed.

✅Generators or heaters must be in working condition and located in Wilmington for pickup, or able to be delivered to our home in Wilmington for loading onto the trailer.

365 days ago, we Loaded up trucks, trailers, SUVs, and a team to go to Western North Carolina.

Our mission was to help distribute supplies, assist search and recovery teams, and setup point of distribution sites.

We were to meet up with warehouse partners already established and assess their needs, assist Flight For Life with search and recovery efforts, return home report back and coordinate another mission.

It will be Oct 4 when we first planted our feet in that muddy soil of Avery county where life would change , and we all committed to help until we ran out of funds.

As I reflect back on the past month of 2025 I want to remind everyone western North Carolina is still hurting, many families still grieving. Many locals and volunteers are still trying to find their tomorrow. Many are still helping neighbors cut down trees, and drag limbs. Some are still using heavy equipment to repair roads, bridges, driveways and river beds.

Some are still helping support there neighbors with supplies,.and other donations.

I also want to say I may not remember every name, but I will always remember the actions and deeds.

Texas is facing a long road to recovery. Search and Rescue teams are working tirelessly to bring every single loved one home.
Families are stepping back into homes that floodwaters left behind. The air is heavy with mold, and the cleanup ahead is daunting.

Sometimes the most powerful help comes from people we’ve never met.
A bag of pet food. Cleaning supplies. Chainsaw blades.

The recent floods have devastated families and communities across the state, and recovery is just beginning. Here in NC we know all too well what a long road lies ahead.

We are launching an Amazon wish list. All items will be shipped directly to our POC in Texas and handed out immediately. These are the essential supplies they currently need and the list will be updated as needed.

Together let us get this list to all 50 states! We have done this before, let's do it again.

We are working on establishing a needs list with a point of contact in texas. As soon as we have this finalized we will be posting an Amazon wish list for anyone that would like to help support the community and first responders that are dealing with the horrendous flooding and aftermath in Texas. All items will be shipped directly to Texas so they can be put to use immediately. Stay tuned!

One of our donation vehicles is just one part away from being road-ready for a family in need—and we’re calling on our community to help make it happen.

We’re looking for a donated radiator for a 2004 Toyota Corolla to complete repairs and get this car back on the road.

One truck, one trailer, one new start.

When disaster struck, a family lost everything—including their way to get to work and school. Our volunteers repaired this pickup and delivered a safe home-on-wheels, helping them rebuild with dignity and hope.
