A volunteer Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is a trained independent advocate who represents and promotes the best interests of abused, neglected and dependent children in the state court system.

North Carolina Guardian ad Litem (GAL) equips community volunteers to serve abused and neglected children by advocating for their best interests in court. Volunteers are adults who come from diverse communities, cultures, and life/work experiences. What an inspiring afternoon for our GAL volunteers! Thank you to Ben David and Judge J.H. Corpening for their powerful, thoughtful presentations on the Community Justice Center and the impact of collaboration in our community. We’re also grateful for the opportunity to tour the Harrelson Center and learn more about the nonprofits working every day to support children and families. Knowledge is power—and today was a reminder of how much support exists when we work together.
