It is with great pride, fond memories, and pure love, that we say farewell to our current Register of Deeds. Tammy has been a strong, driven force for this office. The loving family she has created will continue on as she sets sail into retirement. We can't even begin to thank her for trusting and believing in us, building our skills, and going to bat for us time and time again. As we close this chapter, we can only have hope for our future and continue to serve our citizens of New Hanover County as we were so fiercely taught.
Tammy , thank you for everything you have done. We love you and wish you a happy retirement!

Born in North Carolina? Need your birth certificate? The Register of Deeds in the county you were born in can issue your birth certificate much faster than the State Vital Records as they are experiencing high volume delays. Unless you were adopted, you can contact the Register of Deeds from your birth county for more info.

Hello Facebook family. Shannon here (Vital Records Assistant). As many of you might know, we have done 5 wedding events in the past where we host free weddings by use of donated time, cakes, drinks, and gift certificates. Typically we start planning for the event in October so that we are ready by February 14th. I personally have assisted in all five events and, alongside Tammy, overseen the last three. This event means so much to us because it gives us a chance to give back to the community that we serve and love.
That is why I am so sad to announce that we will not be able to accommodate a sixth event by February of 2021. With Covid still on the rise and restrictions in place, as well as the concern for the safety of our staff and couples, we have made the decision to hold off until our community is in a better place. This is also with the many businesses who donate in mind as well. We ask for so many donations from a lot of places every year and after the hit this year, we do not feel it is right to ask for anything from them. We want them to get back on their feet and thrive again. The Register of Deeds is extremely grateful for the generosity of all of the businesses, wedding officiants, and staff who have made our past events possible.
We hope that you understand and we look forward to the day we can have another event.
