The September 2026 ODHH Community Update is here!
September is Deaf Awareness Month—a time to celebrate Deaf culture, recognize American Sign Language, promote communication access, and strengthen connections throughout our community.
This month’s update includes:
• Information about Delaware’s free Fire and Carbon Monoxide Alert Device Program
• Deaf Awareness Month and International Week of Deaf People
• An ASL spotlight featuring the signs DEAF, CULTURE, and RIGHTS
• Interpreting services, ASL-accessible resources, and Deaf organizations
• ASL classes and learning opportunities
• September community events throughout Delaware and the surrounding region
• Looking-ahead events through April 2027
Featured September events include the DDSC Labor Day Picnic, the Power of AND webinar, Deaf Night Out, Pickleball at the Beach, Reconnect Philly Deaf, d/Deaf Community Day at the Philadelphia Zoo, Connecting Families to Resources, Voices Off Movie Night, DINGO and Dessert, the DAD Fundraiser and DNO, and the rescheduled Deaf Artist and Filmmaker Presentation.
